University of Southampton Delhi is delighted to celebrate the promotion of Professor Dr Sagaya Amalathas to Professor of Computer Science, recognising her exceptional contributions to teaching, research and academic leadership across the University.

Since joining the University of Southampton Delhi as Director of Learning & Teaching, Professor Amalathas has played a pivotal role in shaping the University’s academic experience. Bringing extensive leadership experience from the University of Southampton Malaysia, she has been instrumental in delivering the distinctive Southampton approach to education while fostering an inclusive, innovative and student-centred learning environment.

Before her appointment in Delhi, Professor Amalathas served as Head of Computer Science and Associate Professor at the University of Southampton Malaysia, where she successfully led the graduation of the campus’s first Computer Science cohort. Throughout her career, she has championed curriculum innovation, led higher education initiatives and contributed to impactful research. Her expertise has also supported the design and development of AI solutions across sectors including agriculture, medicine and telecommunications, demonstrating the real-world impact of her work beyond academia and her passion for research.

At the University of Southampton Delhi, Professor Amalathas has continued to inspire colleagues and students through her unwavering commitment to academic excellence and transnational educational innovation. As the Director of Learning & Teaching, she has been responsible for delivering an outstanding educational experience and ensuring that students benefit from the distinctive Southampton approach to teaching and learning.
