"The University of Southampton, being part of the prestigious Russell Group, has a strong academic foundation, and I knew it would provide the right platform to build a valuable professional network. That made my decision easier, but what truly convinced me was my interaction with the director for the Indian region at that time. She gave me a clear picture of what to expect in Southampton, and our conversation made me feel confident about my choice.
Studying BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance with a placement year meant that I had the opportunity to gain real-world experience before graduating. In my third year, I went through the application process, secured a placement, and worked in a business environment. This experience helped me land a summer internship at Grant Thornton, which eventually led to a graduate role. Working in a multinational firm like Grant Thornton has been incredibly rewarding, especially since the company has a major presence in India and collaborates with some of the top businesses there.
Looking back, my proudest achievement isn’t just my academic success, it’s the relationships I built. Four years flew by in what feels like an instant, and I walked away with not just a degree but lifelong friends and professional connections. That network is something I will carry with me forever.
If there’s one piece of advice I could give to future students, it would be this: Go for it. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes. No one is waiting to catch you out—everyone is there to support you every step of the way."
"I felt an immediate personal connection with the University of Southampton after meeting their representative, during her visit to India. From the outset, the interaction made me feel genuinely valued, even before submitting my application. What truly stood out to me was the university's support for its students, both during their studies and after graduation.
I chose the BSc (Hons) Business Management programme because of its strong practical focus. One of the key reasons was the opportunity to learn about taxes through hands-on simulations, which allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios. Adding to this, the support provided by the university was a major factor in my decision, as it gave me confidence in securing meaningful opportunities after graduation.
I am thrilled to see the University of Southampton Delhi introducing the BSc (Hons) Business Management in its very first year. This is such a fantastic opportunity for students in India to experience world-class education. Having experienced the programme, myself I know how impactful it can be. It not only builds deep expertise in key management areas but also equips graduates with the skills and adaptability needed to thrive in complex business environments.
The programme covers essential aspects of management, with specialised modules in accounting and finance, analytics, marketing, and business management—just like the experience I had in the UK. What is even more remarkable is that the content and learning experience remain consistent with what you would get at the University of Southampton."
"I had several options in mind when I began looking for master’s programmes in finance, but the University of Southampton stood out for multiple reasons. Being a part of the Russell Group, it has a strong academic reputation and is recognised globally for its research and teaching standards. The MSc Finance programme particularly appealed to me because it offered a solid mix of core finance theories along with practical tools and applications that are aligned with current industry trends. The programme modules, such as Portfolio Theory, Derivatives, Financial Modelling, and Corporate Finance, matched well with my interests and career goals. I also liked how the programme was structured – it wasn't just about textbook knowledge but also included hands-on experiences, access to Bloomberg terminals, and opportunities to apply theory in real-world contexts. That combination of academic depth and practical exposure was key in helping me make my decision.
The degree played a significant role in helping me transition into the professional world. The technical skills I acquired, ranging from financial modelling to valuation techniques, are things I use regularly in my current role. Employers recognised the credibility that comes with a University of Southampton degree, especially since it combines strong academic content with real-world application. My dissertation focused on equity valuation, and I was able to apply that directly during interviews and in my job. Also, the way the programme is structured encouraged us to work on group assignments and presentations, which helped me become more confident in communicating financial concepts. Overall, my education laid the foundation for both the hard and soft skills required in my job and continues to give me an edge professionally.
Having gone through the programme myself, I can say it is both rigorous and rewarding. What I appreciate most is the way it is designed with the finance industry in mind — there is a strong focus on practical learning and real-world application. I am sure students at the Delhi campus will gain the same valuable exposure and industry-relevant skills that I did."
"The University of Southampton stood out to me as a leading Russell Group university, which was a key factor since I was taking a career break to pursue my Master’s. The programme content was highly relevant, and the university team made me feel supported from the very beginning. I felt valued not just as a prospective student but as someone with defined career goals. That level of personal attention and clarity about the programme’s benefits really helped me make the decision.
I am eager to see how my experience in the UK will be mirrored for students at the University of Southampton Delhi. Students will enjoy the same level of preparation and support, thanks to initiatives like the award-winning Successful Futures Pathway. It is a unique university approach which empowers and arms students with careers and employability awareness and skills-building. Through this initiative, everything a student does and learns is assessed against 14 key skills that are important for the world of work and for employers. This ongoing focus helps students understand what employers are looking for, build the right skills, and gain hands-on work experience—all while studying on campus.
I am sure students in India will experience the same world-class education and global perspective—without having to move abroad right away. While the Delhi campus doesn’t currently offer an MA in Luxury Brand Management, it does offer other master’s programmes like MSc International Management and MSc Finance. These will provide the same content and learning experience you would get in the UK. Plus, UK degrees are globally respected—so a one-year Master’s from the University of Southampton is equivalent to a two-year Master’s from many non-UK universities."
"My education in Southampton has been transformative for my life journey. The on-campus experience was invaluable, providing a platform to interact with fellow students from diverse cultures and backgrounds. This exposure broadened my perspectives and deepened my understanding of the world. Witnessing the varied struggles and battles that each person faces served as a humbling experience, reinforcing the importance of empathy and resilience in my personal and professional life."
"I vividly recall my first day at Southampton, stepping onto the campus with a mix of nerves and anticipation. That experience shaped my academic journey and personal growth in ways I could never have imagined. By bringing world-class education to India, Southampton is expanding its reach and enriching its academic tapestry with diverse perspectives."
"Shuffling between (rigorous but rewarding) academics, countless hours at Hartley library and Jubilee sports centre and the vibrant social life taught the most fundamental but extremely critical skill of task prioritisation and goal setting. The diverse cohort at university developed in me interpersonal skills, which I believe are a necessity while building anything – an enterprise or relationships."
