Gain in-depth knowledge of the concepts, methods and applications of modern microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics with a one-year master’s degree from an international university. The degree will prepare you for a career as an economist working in finance, consulting and policy or to continue research studies.
The programme equips you to understand the theoretical foundations of economic analysis, work with economic models and apply economic analysis to a range of policy areas. You will develop research skills and learn to use a variety of research methodologies to test and evaluate economic models.
You will look at economic theory and econometric methods across a range of topics and develop in-depth knowledge to carry out independent research. This will lead to a dissertation on a subject of your interest.
This is a full-time 1 year degree programme. The programme structure comprises 2 semesters of taught study followed by a final semester of independent research for your dissertation in the final semester 3.
Semester 1 builds sound working knowledge of concepts and methods used in economics and economic research at the postgraduate level. Semester 2 allows you to build on these foundations and deepen your understanding of advanced methods in economics as well as analysing questions and problems in specific areas of economics that reflect your interest. After completing the taught component, you will engage for three months in supervised independent research, yielding a master’s dissertation.
The programmes are designed to ensure that students gain the fundamentals of their discipline and then add specialisation and perspective through available optional modules.
The Programme Description Document contains an overview of the programme, its aims, information on programme modules and shows how we assess student progress as they learn with us.
