As the first student of the inaugural cohort at the University of Southampton Delhi (UoSD), I’ve had the rare privilege of watching the campus, culture, and community come alive from its very first day. Being a pioneer here isn’t simply about stepping into a new university, it’s about helping shape its identity, its traditions, and its story for generations to come. In this blog, I reflect on my experience as a trailblazer whose journeys represent the spirit, resilience, and vision of UoSD’s founding chapter.

Why I chose UoSD
Right after finishing 12th grade, I was standing at a crossroads hopeful yet unsure. While many around me seemed to have their paths mapped out, I was searching for an opportunity that truly aligned with my aspiration of studying abroad and gaining global exposure. When I came across the announcement that a Russell Group university, the University of Southampton, was establishing its Delhi campus, everything suddenly made sense. The vision, structure, and international reputation felt like the perfect foundation for my future.
Feeling proud to be a pioneer
Being the first student of the first cohort is a feeling I still struggle to describe. It is empowering and humbling at the same time. One moment that truly made me proud was walking into the campus on the very first official day. Empty hallways, new classrooms, and a sense of history being written. I realised that every step I took was contributing to the story future batches would one day hear. Being a pioneer means responsibility, possibility, and pride, all woven together.

Shaping culture & campus identity
From participating in clubs and committees to leading student-driven initiatives, I’ve had countless opportunities to contribute to UoSD’s early identity. Whether it’s organising events, helping set up club structures, or initiating traditions, each experience feels meaningful because we are building something from the ground up. The culture we create today becomes the foundation for generations to come, and being part of that creation is deeply fulfilling.

My experience with British-style education
Adjusting to the British style of education has been refreshing and transformative. Unlike traditional methods, the focus here is on critical thinking, independent learning, and practical understanding. My modules in Business Management are designed to prepare us for real-world challenges while encouraging creativity and analytical thought. The faculty, deeply experienced and globally informed, make every lesson impactful, and their mentorship goes far beyond academics.
Student life, facilities and personal growth
Life at the International Tech Park Gurgaon campus feels energising and professional. Surrounded by real corporate environments, every day serves as a reminder of the world we are preparing to enter. Spaces like Baithak, the pocket areas, and the library have become an integral part of my daily routine. They offer moments of comfort, collaboration, and reflection. Through friendships, events, and everyday experiences, I’ve grown academically, socially, and personally.

Career Aspirations and Future Goals
My long-term goal is to pursue a global career in business management, and UoSD has already become a catalyst for that journey. Through industry exposure, skill-building. I am deeply passionate about building a career in product management. To work toward this goal, I am actively pursuing industry-relevant certifications, gaining foundational skills in product strategy, user research, and business analytics. I also aim to expand my global exposure through an MBA in France or London, an opportunity that aligns with my long-term vision of leading innovative, user-focused products on an international level.
