You will have a parallel focus on theory and practice. Each year is made up of core, compulsory and optional modules and you can shape your studies by choosing optional modules to suit your interests or career plans.
Our facilities include the Financial Laboratory (FinTech Lab), equipped with Bloomberg terminals, to gives you hands-on experience of working with financial and economic data. You also have the opportunity to network and meet with employers to explore future career paths. Interdisciplinary modules include modules like Experimental Economics on real-life economic decision-making that connects psychology and human behaviour.
Core modules will provide a foundation in economic topics, including mathematics, statistics, microeconomics and macroeconomics and exploring the social world. You’ll also take an employability module to help you plan your next steps.
You will continue to study core modules in applied and theoretical economics, macroeconomics and microeconomics, adding optional modules for specialisation.
The economics dissertation module in Year 3 is a hands-on research project that develops your ability to work independently in the real work environment. You’ll run your own research project and prepare for postgraduate study and a work environment, depending on your aims. A research supervisor will support you throughout.
