Boost career opportunities with overseas study during your undergraduate programme, or after you graduate. Explore new educational, social and cultural experiences as member of the University of Southampton community.
Our programmes prepare students to think and operate globally. So each year, we select a small number of undergraduate students who we feel would benefit from a short period of academic study at a University of Southampton campus in the UK.
We may offer one semester overseas, as part of the second year of undergraduate study, giving students invaluable international exposure. The overseas semester does not add any additional time to the programme – it simply replaces a semester that would have been studied in Delhi with a semester in the UK. And because programmes in India follow the same academic calendar, include equivalent content, and are taught to the same high academic standards as those in the UK, international mobility of this kind only serves to enhance students’ learning, cultural experiences and employability after graduation.
The selection of students for a semester abroad depends on academic performance during the first year, with programme leads making recommendations for the decision to offer overseas study to a particular student.
A semester abroad is a great opportunity, but students should consider the additional costs and travel before they commit themselves. Programme leads and the Student Experience team can give specific advice, or for more general advice, information on visas, funding and accommodation can be found here.
Students in Delhi are part of the global University of Southampton academic family from the day they enrol. Which means that they not only have the chance to network with Indian students across the world, but are ready as Delhi alumni for the next stage of their educational journey.
A graduate holding a bachelors degree from University of Southampton Delhi is already well-positioned to access and benefit from a master’s programme in the UK, Malaysia or indeed in India. Programme leaders will advise undergraduates throughout their programme in Delhi how to make the most of enhanced progression routes for postgraduate programmes.
Each campus offers a distinct student experience within one connected global community. Studying overseas can build friendships and networks across countries at the same time as a rich cultural experience.
