Graduation is the proud culmination of your journey as a University of Southampton student a moment to celebrate your achievements, memories, and everything you've accomplished.

This page contains everything you need to prepare for your Graduation, including key deadlines, the steps to complete before the ceremony, and what to expect on the day. You'll also discover how to stay connected by becoming part of the University of Southampton's global alumni community.

Graduation Ceremony

The Graduation Ceremony will take place on 07 December at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

A detailed schedule and event agenda including reporting time, gown collection, registration, photography, guest seating, and ceremony timings will be shared with all graduating students shortly.

Check your personal details

Before Graduation, please ensure that all the details on your student record are accurate and up to date. If you need to make any changes, please follow the steps outlined in the Knowledge Base to update your details. Further guidance and the link will be shared by mid-November.

You can also review your student record at any time through Banner Self-Service by using SUSSED.

Register for graduation

Whether or not you plan to attend your Graduation Ceremony, all students must complete the Graduation registration process.

You will receive an email with full details on how and when to register for Graduation. Further guidance and the link will be shared by mid-November.The registration process will allow you to:-

Attend the Graduation Ceremony
Graduate in absentia (without attending the ceremony)

Before completing the registration form, please make sure that you have:-

Access to your student or alumni account
Familiarised yourself with the Graduation webpages and guidance
Discussed any accessibility requirements with the guests you plan to bring to the ceremony

Book your gown

Once you have completed your Graduation registration, you will be able to book your academic gown. Wearing the official University of Southampton academic dress is a requirement for the Graduation Ceremony. Further details on gown booking, collection and deadlines will be shared soon.

If you can't attend the Graduation Ceremony

Although we would love to celebrate with you at the Graduation Ceremony, we understand that not everyone will be able to attend in person. So you can choose to graduate in absentia, meaning you will officially graduate from University of Southampton Delhi, but without attending the Graduation Ceremony.

When you receive your Graduation invitation email, please let us know that you wish to graduate without attending the Graduation Ceremony. You should also make sure that we have your correct details and postal address so that we can send your degree certificate after the Graduation Ceremony has taken place.

Watch the livestream and ceremony recordings

Details about livestreaming and access to ceremony recordings will be confirmed and shared closer to Graduation. Further information, including any livestream links and details of where recordings will be available, will be provided in due course.

Tickets

Closer to the ceremonies, you will receive your e-ticket by email. Please keep an eye on your registered email address and ensure you have access to your ticket on the day.

Once general registration has closed, we will review ticket availability. If additional guest tickets are available, you will be contacted with further information on how and when these can be purchased.

Permitted and prohibited items

Please bring with you:-

Valid photo ID, such as a passport or driving licence. This may be required on arrival to confirm your identity.
Drinking water, as your Graduation Ceremony may last up to two hours.

You must not bring:-

Alcohol
Large bags, including suitcases, rucksacks and large backpacks

For your security

Only one small bag per person is permitted. Bags must be no larger than A4 size, and all bags will be subject to security checks on arrival. Large bags, including rucksacks and suitcases, are not permitted. There are no facilities at the venue to store luggage, so please make alternative arrangements where necessary.

Further details about the Graduation Ceremonial Programme, including the schedule and how it will be shared with graduates, will be provided closer to the ceremony.

Getting to the venue

The Graduation Ceremony venue is India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.

The India Habitat Centre is centrally located and is well connected by Metro, road and public transport.

By Metro: The nearest Metro stations are Jor Bagh and JLN Stadium. From either station, the venue can be reached by a short autorickshaw or taxi journey.
By car or taxi: Further information about venue entry, drop-off points and parking arrangements will be shared closer to Graduation.

Graduation Reception

Following the ceremony, graduates and their guests will have the opportunity to come together and celebrate this special milestone.

It will be a chance to celebrate with fellow graduates, academics, family and friends, reflect on your time at the University, and mark the beginning of the next chapter of your journey.

Photography arrangements for the Graduation Ceremony are currently being finalised. Further information about photography, including booking arrangements and on-the-day details, will be shared closer to the ceremony.

Accessibility

If you or any of your guests have accessibility requirements, please ensure these are communicated during the registration process so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
