University of Southampton Delhi welcomed its second cohort of students with a comprehensive two-week induction and employability programme..

Gurugram, 10 September 2026 – University of Southampton Delhi welcomed its second cohort of students with a comprehensive two-week induction and employability programme, offering new students the opportunity to engage directly with industry leaders and entrepreneurs as part of their introduction to campus life. The programme marked the formal commencement of an academic journey at one of the world’s most renowned universities with a campus in India, catering to ambitious and aspirational students. Placing employability at the core of the induction, the university provided students with early access to career advancement resources, insights from successful alumni, and a series of interactive workshops designed to help them articulate their personal definition of success and explore global career opportunities.

The first week of induction focused on academic orientation and settling students into campus life, featuring leadership welcomes, introductions to the University of Southampton Delhi’s academic framework, and sessions on library and digital readiness. Students took part in workshops on wellbeing and inclusion, along with activities such as a campus treasure hunt and sessions on perfecting their professional pitch. Postgraduate students in the MSc Finance and MSc Data Science programmes were additionally given dedicated academic workshops covering statistics, probability, calculus and linear algebra, preparing them for the rigour of their chosen courses.

The second week placed the spotlight on employability, opening with a keynote on the Careers & Employability ecosystem and continuing with Bloomberg practicals, an ABC Bootcamp on interview readiness, and an Early Career Readiness session. Students also engaged in team-based activities, including “Stranded: The Ultimate Survival Challenge” and a Lego Workshop, while postgraduate students took part in a session on executive presence and a time capsule activity. The two-week programme culminated in the Freshers’ Ball, marking the formal start of student life at the University ahead of the beginning of classes.

The induction programme introduced students to the academic standards of University of Southampton Delhi, while placing a strong emphasis on personal development, wellbeing and meaningful connections with peers and faculty. The programme concluded with enthusiastic participation from students, academics and industry

guests, highlighting the University’s continued commitment to delivering a world-class educational experience in India.

The induction week concluded with a special Teachers’ Celebration and Freshers’ Ball, bringing students and faculty together to mark the beginning of the new academic year. The celebrations provided an opportunity for students to connect with their peers, recognise the contribution of their teachers and build a strong sense of community. The Freshers’ Ball added to the festivities, creating an evening of celebration, new friendships and memorable moments as students began their journey at University of Southampton Delhi.
