I am Agastya Bhargava, part of the founding cohort of the MSc Finance at University of Southampton Delhi, and I’m proud to share that I’ve secured a Credit Analyst role at Investec Global Services.
For me, this opportunity reflects exactly what an MSc Finance degree should deliver: strong technical foundations, real industry exposure, and clear finance career opportunities after graduation.

How campus recruitment opened the door
My journey began with a pre placement talk on campus. Representatives from Investec introduced us to the company’s global operations, culture, and opportunities within credit and risk.
What started as an employer insight session quickly evolved into a full campus recruitment process. Having direct access to employers during my MSc Finance made a real difference. It transformed classroom learning into a tangible career pathway.
This level of employer engagement is one of the strongest advantages of studying a finance masters in the UK, especially at a university with strong industry links.

Applying technical knowledge in a competitive selection process
The recruitment journey was rigorous and highly competitive. Each stage required analytical thinking, technical finance knowledge, and the ability to apply theory to real business scenarios.
The quantitative skills, financial modelling knowledge, and credit analysis concepts I developed during my MSc Finance at the University of Southampton Delhi gave me the confidence to perform under pressure.
Combined with my prior work experience, the course prepared me not just to apply for roles, but to succeed in securing one.

Turning an MSc Finance into career success
Securing this Credit Analyst position means I can now complete my studies with clarity and confidence. Knowing I have a defined next step allows me to focus on finishing strong while preparing for the professional responsibilities ahead.
Being part of the founding cohort has been especially meaningful. I’ve seen first hand how the programme equips students with both technical expertise and career readiness.
For prospective students considering an MSc Finance, my advice would be simple: engage fully with employer events, build strong technical foundations, and take every opportunity to apply what you learn.
I’m excited to begin this next chapter at Investec Global Services and to continue developing my career in finance.
