Dr Aparna Pasumarthy PhD

Dr Aparna Pasumarthy is an interdisciplinary researcher and educator, specializing in careers, leadership, and organizational behaviour. She previously taught at Queen Mary, University of London, and is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her research focuses on the careers of professional men and women in India, especially within multinational corporations. Dr Pasumarthy holds PhD Business and Management from Queen Mary, University of London. She has presented her research at major international conferences and is committed to promoting social justice, inclusion, and sustainability in academia and organisational environments.

Academic profile

Dr Aparna Pasumarthy is an interdisciplinary qualitative researcher and passionate educator. She enjoys making complex management theory accessible to students and adopts a student-centric approach to learning and teaching. Dr Pasumarthy previously taught postgraduate and undergraduate management students at Queen Mary, University of London in the UK. Among other professional affiliations, Dr Pasumarthy is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, United Kingdom.

Dr Pasumarthy’s research expertise spans the fields of careers, leadership, and organizational behaviour. Her on-going research projects focus on the (un)sustainable careers of professional men and women in India; careers of professional women in MNCs in India. She has presented her research at renowned international conferences including the Academy of Management Conference, European Group for Organisation Studies Colloquium, and British Sociological Association Work Employment Society Conference. Combining her expertise with her commitment to inclusion and social justice, Dr Pasumarthy aspires to help construct equitable organisational environments where all individuals can thrive.

Prior to joining University of Southampton Delhi, Dr Pasumarthy pursued an MSc in International Management from the University of Bath and earned a PhD Business and Management (no corrections) from Queen Mary, University of London. Thereafter, she was the Garware Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania Institute for Advanced Study of India (UPIASI) and a Non-Resident Scholar at the Centre for the Advanced Study of India, University of Pennsylvania. Apart from her academic interests and professional endeavours, Dr Pasumarthy is passionate about living sustainably and conserving the environment.
