Dr Chitrakalpa Sen is Head of Economics at the University of Southampton Delhi. He holds a PhD in Economics from the West Bengal University of Technology, following an MSc and BSc (H) in Economics from the University of Calcutta. His research lies at the intersection of sustainable finance, ESG investing, and financial market dynamics, with particular expertise in volatility modelling, regime switching, and convergence in emerging economies. Chitrakalpa has published widely in leading international journals such as Journal of Economic Surveys, Energy Economics, Resources Policy and the Journal of Cleaner Production, and his work continues to shape debates on the resilience of green investments and the role of financial markets in sustainable growth.
Dr Chitrakalpa Sen is the founding Head of Economics at the University of Southampton Delhi. He joined UoSD in June 2025. He received his PhD from West Bengal University of Technology (now MAKAUT) in 2012. He has previously received a BSc (H) in Economics and MSc in Economics from the University of Calcutta.
Chitrakalpa’s primary research interest includes sustainable finance, green investments, market volatility, and the role of financial markets in fostering long-term resilience, alongside recent work in growth economics. His research is regularly published in leading international peer-reviewed journals.
Chitrakalpa has over 14 years of teaching and research experience. Prior to joining University of Southampton Delhi, he has held senior academic and leadership positions at OP Jindal Global University and other leading Indian institutions. At Jindal Global Business School, he served as the senior associate dean of internationalization and mobility, where he was instrumental in advancing international partnerships, building student exchange pathways, and strengthening global research collaborations.
