Dr Shumank Deep will be joining us July 2026 as Assistant Professor in Operations Management at University of Southampton Delhi. He brings eight years of teaching experience across MBA, PGDM, undergraduate, and interdisciplinary business programmes. His academic work connects operations management, project management, supply chain systems, business analytics, infrastructure, and construction management. He holds a PhD in Construction Management from the University of Newcastle, Australia, where his doctoral research examined power and dependence in contractor relationships. He has served as an Institute Postdoctoral Fellow at IIT Delhi and as a visiting researcher at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan. His research focuses on procurement governance, buyer–supplier relationships, supply chain resilience, digital transformation, and decision analytics in project-based environments.
Dr. Shumank’s research examines procurement governance, buyer-supplier relationships, supply chain resilience, digital transformation, and decision analytics. His work addresses project delivery and operational performance in infrastructure and construction project environments. He holds a PhD in Construction Management from the University of Newcastle, Australia. His doctoral research studied power and dependence in main contractor-subcontractor collaboration. He also holds qualifications in operations management, business analytics, construction technology, and civil engineering.
Before joining the University of Southampton Delhi, he held academic and research roles at Queen’s University Belfast, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Institute of Management Studies Ghaziabad, RICS School of Built Environment, Integral University, and the University of Newcastle. His teaching covers operations management, supply chain management, project management, construction contracts, research methods, and business analytics. His teaching practice uses applied cases, analytics dashboards, MS Project, Primavera P6, Microsoft Power BI, and Revit.
Dr Deep has published in international peer-reviewed journals across construction management, infrastructure systems, real estate, operations, and supply chain management. His publication record includes 3 ABDC A* and 4 ABDC A journal articles. He is an Editorial Board Member of Scientific Reports, Nature Portfolio, and serves as a reviewer for leading journals in project, construction, and management research. He received the Australia Awards Fellowship 2025-2026 and the Australia Awards Alumni Engagement Grant 2026. The grant supports his project, “Inclusive Disaster Preparedness and Recovery Planning for Urban Community Infrastructure in Ghaziabad-Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, India.
