Anupama Saini joined University of Southampton Delhi as Site Librarian, bringing with her a dynamic background in library and information science, community engagement, and human-centred project leadership.
She has nearly a decade of diverse experience across academic, legal, and civic sectors. Anupama holds a Gold Medal in her Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Delhi and is qualified for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) through the UGC-NET. Her work has consistently integrated digital literacy, equity, and ethical information practices into inclusive learning environments.
Prior to this appointment, Anupama served as the Head of the British Council Library and Cultural Centre in New Delhi, where she led the transformation of one of India’s most established international libraries. Her portfolio included strategic planning, operational leadership, digital integration, and audience development. She also spearheaded large-scale public programming, including collaborations with UK universities, embassies, and advocacy organisations, resulting in significant growth in reach and impact.
In earlier roles, she managed legal reference services and acquisitions at the High Court of Delhi and worked in assurance and audit at EY, where she developed a strong foundation in analytical thinking and stakeholder communication.
Anupama is a strong advocate for equitable access to information and has been instrumental in designing initiatives around climate justice, animal ethics, and gender rights.
Commenting on her new role, Anupama said: “I am grateful and excited to be joining University of Southampton Delhi. Libraries are evolving into powerful spaces of curiosity, agency, and collaboration, and I look forward to co-creating a vibrant, student-focused learning ecosystem that bridges information services with global challenges and critical thinking.”
Her affiliations with IFLA, CILIP (UK), and ILA reflect her international engagement and professional standing. She also holds certifications in project management and digital leadership, underscoring her commitment to continuous learning.
At Southampton, Anupama aims to build a progressive library environment that supports academic research, inquiry-based learning, and intellectual growth, in alignment with the university’s international standards and values.
