Dr. Shumank Deep joined University of Southampton Delhi in July 2026 as Assistant Professor in Operations Management. He brings eight years of teaching experience across MBA, PGDM, undergraduate, and interdisciplinary business programmes. His academic work connects operations management, project management, supply chain systems, business analytics, infrastructure, and construction management. He holds a PhD in Construction Management from the University of Newcastle, Australia, where his doctoral research examined power and dependence in contractor relationships. He has served as an Institute Postdoctoral Fellow at IIT Delhi and as a visiting researcher at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan. His research focuses on procurement governance, buyer–supplier relationships, supply chain resilience, digital transformation, and decision analytics in project-based environments.
Dr Shumank Deep holds a PhD in Construction Management from the University of Newcastle, Australia, and an MBA in Operations Management and Business Analytics. He previously held an academic appointment at Queen’s University Belfast and an Institute Postdoctoral Fellowship at IIT Delhi. His teaching covers operations and supply chain management, business analytics, project management and research methods.
He received an Australia Awards Fellowship for 2025–2026 for short-term research in Australia on sustainable building and clean energy infrastructure.
His research examines procurement governance, buyer–supplier relationships and supply chain resilience in infrastructure and construction. His work also addresses digital transformation, climate risks and worker productivity.
